I LOVE this idea! Ky has learned to walk using his walker!!!
He is 26 months old and is starting to use this more and more. In this picture, he also has his AFOs on which we call his 'boogie shoes'!
Thanks for letting me share my monkey with you!!

CONGRATULATIONS! wooo hoo hooooooo! YEY yippy yay yey! wow acmunckin our little ones have tons in common! I am soo excited and happy to hear Ky learned how to use his walker and has been using it more. I love the picture you posted love love love it! He is super adorable and so cute! Thanks for posting the pic. Brianna also learned to use her walker this past thursday, the only thing is that her walker is like a kiddy toy walker I purchased like the ones at toys r us the plastic toy ones ( I wish I had a picture to post but I dont at the moment I will take one ) her insurance didnt want to cover a walker like the one Ky has, but this one is working out for her. She loves she has had it for a few months but it was too fast for her, now she can walk straight forward for about 12-15 ft at a time. YEY! She did fall yesterday and she banged her head on the floor thank God its carpet it hurt her a little but shes ok. Congrats to out kiddos using their walkers kissy for Ky!

Araceli... WOW! I am so so SO super happy to read that Brianna learned to walk using a toy cart push walker!! You must be THRILLED!!!! I can't wait to see a pic of Brianna with her walker... Isn't it fun when you get to cheer them on as you watch them learning to do new things that you weren't ever sure they would do or learn...? Just a little while ago she started crawling and look at her now...up and about exploring her newfound freedom takin' steps and pushin' her toycart while Mommy cheers her on. Way to go, Brianna...and I'm cheering her on for even bigger steps. Love, Matthew's Mommy

When I began homeschooling Matthew a few years ago we started working on sign language because all of a sudden he showed an interest in learning it even though our much earlier attempts to learn sign language didn't amount to much. He has learned to sign about 25+ words and we also work on teaching him to use those sign language words appropriately and with meaning. Well, when we were at the beach on a family trip we took Matthew to ride the Carousel that was inside a shopping area just a few blocks from the beach. He loves riding the Carousel and we did this over and over many times each day while we were there. I had the idea (before we went) that I wanted to have Matthew's picture drawn by an Artist who worked in the shopping mall. This is something we haven't ever done and I was really excited to have an Artist draw a portrait of Matthew. Come to find out when we set up the appointment, the Artist's shop was only a few feet within direct vision of the Carousel. It was a 30 minute sitting and there was no door...just an open view straight to the flashing lights, the music, the horses going round and round and Matthew's favorite thing right before his eyes. Needless to say, the sitting consisted of the Artist trying to get Matthew's attention to look at him and Mom and Dad trying to take Matthew's attention off the Carousel and block his vision from the brightly colored horsies that were calling Matthew's name...lol It was a constant battle during the entire 30 minutes and somewhere near the end of the sitting Matthew signed a word and I instantly knew what he signed. The Artist asked me what Matthew said and I uhhhmmm....told him (a little embarassed) that he just said "different" and he wants to do something different. Different is a new word that Matthew recently learned to sign and now I am convinced beyond a doubt that he knows exactly what DIFFERENT means and he used it appropriately!! lol He wanted to do something DIFFERENT and go ride those horses on the Carousel!! lol I'm really proud of him. Somewhere on this board I posted about my daughter Bethany, I think it was around thte last of May. I was worried because she had an opportunity to go on a trip with her youth dept. We talked to the youth director and his wife. I thought that she would back out at the last minuet. She didnt, We took her to the church at 5:30 am Sat morning, she is due in at 8 tonight. She was excited about going. This is to a place she has never been before with none of her family there with her. SO this is a big thing. Now some one be proud of me, cuz I miss her

Lauras, I remember that post you wrote about your daughter, Bethany and talking with the Pastor about her attending a church event. I'm so glad that she made the choice to go ahead and go and so happy for BOTH OF YOU on the huge accomplishments!! I'm sure it wasn't easy letting her go off and be away all by herself for the first time. She'll have so many things to tell you when she arrives back home and share all about her experience with you. Sandie *Mom to 15 year old Matthew with complete ACC*

Sandie aka Matthewsmom, I am very proud of Matthew and his accomplishment to learn 25+ sign words, and that he is learning to use them appropriately! That was a very sweet story about Matthew I was picturing the entire thing. Him sitting there trying to look over the artists' shoulder to see the carousel lol until he had enough and he wanted "different" Lauras, I remember your post about Bethany and attending the church camp, I am so proud of both her and you. I can just imagine how you are so proud but at the same time so anxious let us know how it went when she comes back! xxx, Araceli Mommy to 2 year old Brianna with C-ACC

This is an accomplishment for me more than Ky........ Kyle is a very loving, laid-back two-year old. He is extremely precious and people talk to him everywhere we go. People get kind of surprised when he babbles back and they realize he can't talk. They ask how old he is and when I tell them that he is two.....these sweet, loving, well-meaning people ask what is wrong with him. I used to take this very personally and was always sweet and explained his diagnosis but it hurt my feelings so bad. I have finally gotten to the point that I take it in the spirit it is given, look at it as an opportunity to educate and spread awareness and tell them about his diagnosis and answer any questions they have. HUGE step for me.
